A Bill has been drafted which will be due a second reading this January that, assuming it achieves Royal Assent will make it illegal for landlords to make decisions on property rentals subject to pet ownership.

The majority of landlords in Great Britain do not allow pet ownership in rented properties, but this is more than likely set to change when the Bill, brought forward by MP Andrew Rossindell will protect the rights of animal owners to keep their pets with them in rented accommodation.

In cases where the renter proves that they are a responsible owner and the accommodation is suitable for pet ownership, the right to take a pet into a property would be assumed.

The Bill has already achieved cross party support, watch this space.
