A new law pertaining to septic tanks and the manner in which they discharge waste, their state of maintenance, and the appropriateness of their size went into effect in January 2015.

According to estimates, 500,000 homes in the UK, mostly those in rural regions, use septic tanks, which are subterranean chambers through which domestic waste is channeled.
