LONDON: To avoid being burdened with troubled assets, almost half of property companies plan to increase investment in carbon reduction this year. (Reported by news source)

In a survey conducted by the British Property Federation of boardroom directors, 49% said they intended to speed up the implementation of their net-zero programmes over the following year.

Another 28% anticipate that investment will remain as it is. Only 2% anticipate reducing delivery. With 40% of CEOs planning to boost development in the capital over the next year, London continues to be the top destination for real estate investments. The Midlands and other important locations are also anticipated to see rises in investment.

41% of respondents said they would increase their investment in build-to-rent over the next five years, 31% said they would target logistics, and 30% said they would upscale in the field of life sciences.

The top three longer-term investment plans for property companies also show a shift toward emerging asset classes.
