Major rail improvement project number three is stopped in sidings

ENGLAND: In the three years since the 2019–2024 plan was unveiled, about one-third of the government's pipeline of projects worth £10 billion to improve the rail network have not moved forward. (Reported by news source)

The Government originally pledged £10.4 billion for CP6 improvements; however, this sum has since been reduced to £9.6 billion. The supply chain, however, cautions that it is currently working without knowledge of precisely which projects will move forward and which will be postponed or abandoned.

According to the RIA's study, 18 of the RNEP schemes are nearing design, delivery, or completion, indicating that there has been significant work on several of them.

Despite the Government promising to issue an annual update, it has been three years since the Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline's first and last publications.

Rail suppliers, who are merely looking to plan and invest in their companies and workforces to complete the work, have suffered as a result from a lack of visibility.
