EDINBURGH: Property prices in East Dunbartonshire fell by 4.6% in December, more than the Scottish average. (Reported by news source)

But the decline does not change the longer-term trend, which has seen the region's property prices increase by 2.3% over the previous year.

According to Land Registry data, the average house price in East Dunbartonshire in December was £259,555, a 4.6% fall from November.

In contrast to Scotland, where prices fell 2.9% over the course of the month, East Dunbartonshire saw prices fall by less than the 0.4% average for the UK.

East Dunbartonshire's average sale price increased by £5,900 over the past year, placing the region 30th out of Scotland's 32 local authorities having price statistics for yearly growth.

The Orkney Islands experienced the biggest yearly rise in the area, with average home values rising by 17.7% to $222,000 annually. Properties in Aberdeen, which lost 4% of their value, had an average price of $139,000 at the other end of the spectrum.
