Glasgow City Council approves £535 million five-year housing investment plan

GLASGOW: In order to satisfy the city's housing needs and growth goals for the years 2023–2027, Glasgow City Council has approved a new Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) describing how the availability of affordable housing can be improved. (Reported by news source)

It is anticipated that the SHIP will result in an investment of more than £535 million, leading to the construction of nearly 6,500 additional dwellings throughout that time.

The SHIP intends to carry out the vision and strategic goals outlined in Glasgow's Housing Strategy, which include: assisting in meeting housing supply targets; expanding the availability of larger, more affordable homes with four or more bedrooms.

The AHSP has specific goals, such as the construction of 60 new family-sized homes with four or more bedrooms annually and the goal that 10% of all new homes in complexes with 20 units or more will be wheelchair-accessible.

The SHIP was created after consultation with the council's housing partners, as is customary.
