Cathcart & District intends to build 12 new socially affordable homes

Eight two-bedroom dwellings and four one-bedroom homes will be available for social rent off Clarkston Road thanks to the designs.

In order to obtain grant support from Glasgow City Council, Help Design Architects produced the layouts in accordance with the Glasgow Standard. The four-story building will replace a row of dilapidated garages and blend in with the neighbouring old tenements and newly constructed apartments.

Also, drying areas are offered off the sunspaces so that garments can be dried naturally without having to use an expensive tumble dryer or take the washing to an outdoor drying area.

The south-facing sunspace balconies, which can be closed in the winter to create a barrier between the living rooms and the chilly outside air, are a distinctive element of the development.

This initiative will assist us in addressing some of the unmet need for social rent housing in the Cathcart area.
