LONDON: With design revisions to add second stairs to tall residential buildings, Landsec was granted planning approval for a significant new neighbourhood of 1,800 dwellings in North London. (Reported by news source)

In order to transform the 14-acre Finchley Road O2 Centre retail park into a significant mixed-use urban neighbourhood, £1 billion will be spent in the region.

It is the largest project approved by Camden Council since King's Cross Goods Yard and will be built over a ten- to fifteen-year period, supporting an average of 350 jobs per month.

The hybrid planning application also involves the demolition of a sizable Homebase shop and detail planning approval for around 600 dwellings in the initial blocks, N3-E, N4 and N5.

The O2 Centre's above-ground structures and the car showrooms will be demolished as part of the development plots N1, N2, N3, N6, N7, S1, and S8.

"We aim to help the local community succeed over the long haul as long-term investors. We intend to repay the trust the Council and the neighbourhood have placed in us by collaborating with them to create a vibrant and sustainable neighbourhood.
